So what's with this 350 anyway?

Nova Scotia Day 6

We spent day six investigating the sights around Annapolis Royal, starting with the Historic Gardens. The gardens are half history and half horticultural museum with displays telling the history of the Acadians who settled in the region in the early 1600’s and lovely gardens of local and historic plant species, some of which were hybridized several hundred years ago. Of special interest of me was the rose garden, which has over 200 different varieties of roses tracing the hybridization of the plant from the earliest efforts to the most modern. The garden has many antique varieties that have been all but lost to history.

The real fun of the day started when we turned the small camera over to Piper. Most of the photos for this post were taken by her, and many more are in the photo gallery (look for the picture numbers in the 1000 range – most those are hers). When all was said and done she took nearly 500 photos. Granted many of them were deleted, be we kept a number of them for prosperity. Other visitors to the garden were amused watching her race around with her camera and listening to her exclamations when she took a shot that she was particularly impressed with.

Having Piper take a picture of Lisa and I was one of those moments where you start to realize that your little girl is becoming independent of you. A picture of both of us, without her, in it is tangible proof of that fact. The sliver lining is that we finally have someone to take a picture of the two of us while on vacation.
