Spring Update
Well, best of intentions aside, I’ve been terrible about posting lately. Allergies are definitely taking their toll. Tree pollen abounds. We’re having a beautiful spring this year. Last year it rained, and rained, and then it rained some more. I’ve noticed it’s much easier to get a garden on time when the sun is shining. My heirloom tomato seeds decided against growing past 2 inches tall (light, food, who knows) so I was very excited when we found a nursery with varieties other than Beefsteak. In fact, I have no less than 8 different kinds and some are even heirloom. Add this to the cherry tomatoes, and we should be swimming in tomatoes come September. :-)
We’ve been out and about a lot. This month Bank of America runs a promotion called Museums on Us where admission is free with their credit card to a boatload of museums. We went to the DeCordova Sculpture Gardens and the old State House Museum last week. Piper also had a nature journaling field trip with the author Claire Leslie Walker at the Acton Arboretum. If you’re interested in nature journaling, be sure to check out her books. Very cool.
I finished the quilt. Yeah! Nothing like OCD to get a job done by an arbitrary date you’ve set. I decided we would have our Memorial Day picnic on the quilt and sewed my little fingers off. Not sure I’m going to rush out and pick up quilting as a hobby, but I’m actually pretty pleased with the results. (Read on …)
