What I Learned Sweeping the Streets of Boston for a Half Day
1) Someone holding a broom is invisible.
2) Smokers are piggies. You wouldn’t believe many cigarette butts we swept up.
3) That sweeping the steps of a church while doing community service does not breech the Constitutional divide between Church and State. (Granted that this is the conclusion of myself and a co-worker).
4) Street People are more appreciative of volunteers than “regular” people.
5) All volunteer t-shirts are extra large.
6) Deep down, city workers do have a sense of humor.
